Gibson Les Paul Classic “Premium Plus Edition” Guitar. The Premium Plus Models are basically A Custom shop quality Guitar Without the Price Tag. The Les Paul Classic “Premium Plus” Versions were produced from 1993 to 2001. This has a six digit serial No which is Ink stamped and the no starts 01 for 2001 build year. By design there is Not a “Made in USA” message stamped on the instrument head stock, just like the Gibson 1960’s versions. I read that the Highest quality Materials and Veneers were used same as all Custom shop models. Excellent condition, for a 21 year old guitar, next to no play wear. I believe the cap to be maple with high quality tiger stripe/quilted matched veneer, the body is lighter than some Les Paul’s I have owned, It’s possibly had a weight relief process carried out during the build. I chose this above others available due to it’s Beautiful High Quality Matched Natural Quilted Desert Burst Top “Tea /Gold Colour”. Some lacquer checking of the nitrocellulose finish on the lower body edge, typical on Gibsons due to the finish ageing process. Case; Black with usual clasps and combination lock, Grey lining. Hide TKL brand logo and Gibson Logo printed on the top. Green tinted trapezoid inlays. New Strings just fitted 10’s. Has ” LPPP ” notation hand written in ink under one of the pickups at the point of manufacture to confirm body selection as designated Premium Plus Model specification. One of several instruments I bought from a dealer in Washington State USA in 2005. Never gigged in my ownership, rarely if ever played, it’s been stored in it’s original Gibson-TKL hard shell case. It comes from a smoke and pet free home. It is part of a collection which I have been reducing. NO Breaks, Cracks or Neck Repairs!
