Avalon S320A Low Gloss Sunset Burst 12 Fret Concert Acoustic Guitar
Here for sale we have an Avalon S320A, a 12-Fret acoustic guitar in the Americana Series. Americana series Avalon guitars are handcrafted by some of the best luthiers in the world in Northern Ireland, and were designed to give the feel of vintage USA built guitars. This series was released in 2007, with the S320A being the first model launched, and at serial number 63 it is safe to assume this model is one of the first. This also explains the imperfect finish on the edges of the burst, as Avalon had some issues with this on earlier models. On first glance this guitar does have a very vintage feel with a nitrocellulose Low Gloss Sunset burst finish, slotted headstock with open gear Grover tuners and the 12-Fret design. The guitar itself has a uniquely shaped and relatively small concert body size, making it a comfortable guitar to play. The neck has a beautiful feel, with an evenly rounded profile and medium 45mm nut width making for a very pleasant playing experience, the only downside being limited upper fret access. The choice of tonewoods is a conventional one with Solid Indian Rosewood used for the back and sides and Solid Spruce for the top. Since this guitar has both a 12-Fret design and a 25.5 scale length, the Ebony bridge is located a little further down the guitar than usual. This new placement may feel a little unusual for those not used to it, but the tonal result is surprisingly pronounced, with plenty of volume and a rich tone that is warm and sweet in equal measure. This is a perfect guitar for fingerpickers who are seeking a balanced tone with a less cumbersome neck profile than other models. This is a fantastic guitar and is up there with one of the finest acoustic guitars we have had the pleasure of acquiring. Year – 2007/08 (Estimate). Finish – Low Gloss Sunset Burst. Guitar Type – 12-Fret Acoustic Guitar. Body – Solid Indian Rosewood Back and Sides with Solid Spruce Top. Neck – Three Piece Mahogany Neck. Fingerboard Material – Ebony. Luthier report by Adam North Guitars. Headstock- The headstock is in good condition with some minor aesthetic markings that are not significant on the top edge there are some minor indents. Neck- Very Good Condition. Body- There are some very light markings to the body of the guitar in various places which are noticeable but not significant from light playing wear. The imperfection on the front is from the finishing process. There is some light wear in the area where your arm would rest. There is some light wear to the frets with some light indentation to the first few frets. This is not significant and does not affect playability. Truss Rod & Bridge- Fully Functional and can be adjusted. Height of the string from the 12th Fret- 3mm bass 2.5mm treble. Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Notes on Set Up. There is plenty of room in the saddle for action adjustment, the truss rod requires a specialist tool for convenient adjustment which does not come with the instrument. Strings on Guitar- 11 – 52. The guitar is in good condition with minor markings from previous use. There is a visible finishing imperfection on the front, which can be seen on the listing pictures and some light markings to the top edge of the headstock and a couple of minor ones on the sides, which are difficult to notice. On the bass side of the neck to body join there is a minor finish imperfection, but these do not detract from the overall instrument look.
