A subtle flamed top really sets it off and is one of the more accurate looking flame patterns we’ve seen on a 59 Historic with some stunning 3Dimensional looks to the wood in different lights. Weighing in at 8.5lbs and being nicely balanced this particular R9 has been played with the utmost care and treasured by its previous owner. Condition wise its great with only the tiniest laquer scratch on the high E string from a string change. It is only visible in certain lights. It has been carefully played over the last 5 years or so as far as we can see. It has just the odd sign its been used and thats about it, no significant dings, scratches, dents or damage. Other than the fact the guitar is “used” the guitars condition is excellent. If we’re being very critical – the case has a few small marks. In 2017 Gibson had an exceptional year with Gibson doing exactly what Gibson does best – make exceptional quality guitars. We believe these years (2017-present) are some of the most historically accurate and nicely finished guitars to ever emerge from the Gibson Custom Shop. In terms of the ever improving 59 reissues 2017 was a fantastic year with the exact duplication of the neck profile and top carve from an original’59 Burst. Rosewood fretboards were re-introduced with the introduction of all plastics being “Historic”, featuring accurate profiles, colouration and material composition from original parts using chemical analysis and 3D scanning. The VOS finish is very thin and looks as good as we have ever seen from Gibson. All 2017 guitars feature hot hide glue construction, a historically accurate’59 wet sanded hand finished top and neck neck carve and are fitted with historic parts, with period correct hardware, electronics and hand wound custombucker 59 PAF pickups. It has a great vintage look with the VOS finish, gorgeous flame maple top and Historic parts. The tone is pure magic.
