Supplied with original 50s hard case. Here is my beautiful Hofner President in Tobacco Burst. Definitely the best’acoustic’ sound I’ve ever heard from a semi-acoustic guitar. This guitar was held in storage by a collector in North Essex who had acquired over 60 guitars. This guitar does show play wear from its original owner but it has clearly been cared for throughout its life. There is checking to the front of the body and some very slight scarring below the check plate. Since I’ve owned it I’ve been sympathetically restoring it while retaining the age and character of the instrument. The frets have recently been crowned and polished, the fingerboard sanded and oiled. A new zero fret was added to assist the setting of a comfortably low action all across the neck. (All fret work and electronics carried out by Luthier Ian Malone at Malone Guitars). The neck binding has been cleaned and restored. All parts, pickups, frets, controls, tailpiece, bridge are original including the scratchplate. The base of the bridge has been sanded to correctly and perfectly fit the curve of the arch top. George Harrison also owned a 1959 President Thinline. His was serial number 185 and this guitar, only 31 numbers away, would undoubtedly have been produced as part of that same first run of Hofner President Thinlines. Carved solid spruce body top, and flamed maple back and sides. Lower Bout Width: 16.25 on both acoustic and electric versions. Plain white binding, with multiple black/white purfling to body. Five piece slightly flamed maple laminated neck. Eight fret markers on fingerboard. “Splayed corners” headstock with HOFNER name inlayed in capitals. Machine heads are single, open units, with solid brass barrels. Maple and vintage style C neck. All parts disassembled and deep cleaned. Machine heads oiled and tightened. All paint surfaces carefully polished. Electrical controls, cleaned and recommissioned. Fingerboard sanded and oiled. All nickel and metal surfaces polished. Bridge base sanded to match the guitar’s arched top. Zero fret reset to assist improvement in action. Overall length 104 cm. Body length 51.5 cm. Body depth 3,5 cm 1.4/. Scale length 64.7 cm 25.5 (zero fret to saddle). Fingerboard width 4.5 cm at nut, 5.3 cm at 12th fret. Overall weight 2.5KG. String action at 12th fret 0.075/ 1.9mm. All of my guitars are Deep Cleaned, Restored Sympathetically and set up to play, record and perform consistently. This guitar is supplied with its original 50s Hard Case.
